Politics in Art
Hey all its MAK this is the subject of my discussion I am going to include a few links to navigate you through the information that I found interesting that discusses political art.
This first link is just a small little essay about how politics is in every piece of art and what defines politics in art:

The first excerpt is the more clear of the two but the second goes a little deeper and while addressing the same issues. I think these readings begin to negate my past 6-7 years of formal education in architecture… a scary but exhilarating feeling!!!
Updated link that is printable! Sorry for any confusion!

I’m really interested in the integration of art and community. These artists have started to rebuild a community in Detroit after the foreclosure crisis.

Raising funds
Hey all,
I need some help! I am looking for someone to design a poster for my show about Morgan and her afghan adventure. The money I make off of my work will go to Morgans efforts to get to the middle east. I just need the poster to give a background of her program as well as mentioning that the money from anything sold will go to her cause. Let me know if you’re interested.
Thanks,
...

Here’s a few videos I want you guys to watch. This is my favorite graphic designer, Stefan Sagmeister. In the videos he discusses happy design, the things he has learned and the power of taking time off. Here’s a hotlink to an interview he did with the design blog designboom: http://www.designboom.com/eng/interview/sagmeister.html

More prints I made. I am looking to install them on a wall and think it would be great on a wall downtown somewhere a bunch of people could see it, If anyone has ideas about a space let me know.
There are more pictures on my flickr.

HELLO all! As some of you know I’ve been interviewing the last few weeks for a volunteer position with Skateistan and I finally got it! I will be teaching art and skateboarding in Kabul for 6 months. Skateistan reimburses me for travel and visa costs, but there are other financial aspects…

This is the link to my reading. It is short but has good pictures to go with it. If you click on the hyper link to the exhibition site there is a vurtual tour video that is very good as well. I feel it is fitting for recent events!
